Sunset Sailing Pula - Private Sailboat Cruise with Dolphins & Drinks
Sunset sailing in Pula is what an Adriatic evening is supposed to feel like: the sails up, the engine off, and the coast slipping quietly past as the sun drops towards the sea. On this private three-hour cruise the sailboat is yours alone, so you can watch for dolphins, swim in a calm bay, and sip a drink on deck while the sky turns gold - all at the gentle pace only sailing allows.
A Private Sunset Sailboat Cruise
This is genuine sailing, not a motorboat with a sunset label. From the Pula waterfront your skipper raises the sails and the boat leans into the evening breeze, carrying just your group - up to 8 guests - towards the Brijuni Islands. With no engine noise and no crowd, the whole cruise stays calm, intimate and romantic, the kind of evening that feels a world away from a busy party boat.
Golden Hour Toward the Brijuni Islands
As you sail out, the light softens and the islands of the Brijuni archipelago glow in the low sun. The evening sea is usually at its calmest, perfect for sailing, and the views back towards the Pula coast and its Roman skyline are extraordinary at this hour. There is little to do but settle in, watch the colors change, and let the boat carry you along.
Dolphins in the Evening
The waters near Brijuni are known for dolphin sightings, and the evening is when they most often appear. Sailing quietly, without engine noise, can make encounters feel especially peaceful. Sightings are never guaranteed - these are wild animals - but the calm dusk conditions and the sheltered archipelago give you a real chance to see them roll through the golden water.
An Evening Swim and Drinks on Board
The skipper anchors in a sheltered bay for a swim in the warm evening sea, one of the simple pleasures of a summer evening in Istria. Back on board, local wine, beer, soft drinks, iced tea and water are included, so you can toast the sunset with something cold in hand. There is no set meal and no rush - just an easy, beautiful evening under sail.
Who This Sunset Sail Is For
A private sunset sail suits couples above all - it is quietly romantic and a favorite for anniversaries and special evenings - but it works just as well for small groups of friends and families who want a calm, memorable end to the day. With space for up to 8 guests, the sailboat stays intimate and unhurried throughout.
No Sailing Experience Needed
You do not need to know anything about sailing. The skipper handles the boat and the sails, and you are free to simply relax and enjoy the evening. If you are curious, they are happy to explain how it all works and even let you take the helm for a while as you glide along the coast.
Why Sail at Sunset Instead of a Motor Cruise
A motorboat can show you the same coast, but it cannot give you the same evening. Under sail there is no engine noise to break the calm, the boat moves with the wind rather than against it, and the whole cruise feels slower and more romantic. For couples and small groups who want the golden hour to feel special rather than rushed, sunset sailing in Pula is the quieter, more atmospheric choice - and the memory that tends to last.
What Is Included and What to Bring
The private charter includes the sailboat and licensed skipper for the evening, fuel, local drinks, and snorkeling gear. Bring a towel, swimwear, sunscreen and a light layer for once the sun is down and the breeze cools - everything else is already on board.
Departure, Duration and Booking
The cruise lasts around three hours and departs from the Pula waterfront (Riva), a short walk from the old town and the Arena. Departure times shift with the season so the sail always coincides with sunset. Booking includes free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with help to reschedule if the wind and weather do not cooperate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a real sailboat?
Yes. Wind permitting, you sail under canvas; the engine is only used for calm patches and for maneuvering in and out of the harbor.
How long is the sunset sail?
About three hours, with the departure time changing through the season so it always lines up with sunset.
Will we see dolphins?
Possibly - dolphins are wild, so it can never be guaranteed, but the evening waters near Brijuni are among the more reliable spots near Pula.
How many guests can join?
Up to 8 guests, on a private sailboat reserved just for your group.
Is it suitable for a romantic evening or proposal?
Very much so - the sails, the sunset and the quiet make it a favorite for couples and special occasions. Let us know in advance if you are planning something.
Do we need sailing experience?
None at all. The skipper does everything; you are welcome to help or simply relax.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, with help to move to another evening if the weather does not cooperate.

It was a very nice boat trip with a good and family-like vibe. The food was also very good and more than enough for everyone. The swim stop was very fun. We could jump of the platform on top of the boat and also had amazing views. Greetings from Belgium!

Was a super nice experience! We went sailing and snorkelling in beautiful spots where there were hardly any other people, which made it feel really special. There were only six of us on the boat, making it perfect if you’re looking for a more intimate and relaxed sailing experience. The organisers were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made sure everyone had a great time. The whole trip felt very personal, and we never felt rushed. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Pula and Fažana who wants to escape the crowds and enjoy a memorable day on the water!

On the tour we've got a welcome like when you come home to your family. Peaceful, calming, fun experience. It's not a luxury trip, it's a tour with good your friends.
