What a gem! We visited as a family, including my wife’s parents who were visiting from back home in New York, and ended up having one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. We had the olive oil tasting followed by the wine tasting, but what really made the visit special was spending time with the owner’s father. He has an incredible personality, a genuine passion for what he does, and a wealth of knowledge about olives, wine, and life. It never felt like a tour. It felt like sitting down with someone who truly loves sharing his craft. The introductory video was fun in its own way. I still have my doubts that the English narrator really lived in Australia for 40 years! Even better, he loved asking us questions throughout the tasting, which made the experience interactive instead of just listening to a presentation. I actually learned quite a bit. One explanation that has stayed with me was his philosophical answer about why you don’t see much Croatian wine in the United States. It was simple, thoughtful, and surprisingly memorable. To finish, we visited the goats and heard a few stories that were absolutely unforgettable. Those little moments are what made the visit feel so authentic. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. In fact, part of me hesitates to write this review because it feels like one of those rare places you almost want to keep secret so it stays as special as it is. One small note for English-speaking visitors. The owner’s father speaks English quite well, but every now and then I helped translate a few details for my American in-laws. It never took away from the experience. If anything, it added to the charm. If you’re anywhere in Istria, make the time to visit. You’ll leave with much more than a bottle of olive oil or wine. You’ll leave with stories you’ll still be talking about long after you get home.

We were looking for an olive oil tasting off the beaten path and we found this absolute gem. Mr. Grebac gave us his personal attention and spoiled us with not only olive oil tastings, but a beautiful (and very generous) Istrian meat and cheese board, three different wines, a plate of delicious sweets made by the grandmother, and cordials. He took us to see his adorable miniature goats and friendly donkeys. The patio is welcoming and peacefully surrounded by olive trees. The olive oils are all fresh and delicious. I hope to return someday!

We were the only ones at the time so we had superb experience of individual experience from mr. Grebac. Presentation on the TV was super educational, and mr. Grebac put us on a little test of tasting and ranking his olive ools, like real sommeliers :) Olive oil and all the food, ambience, and nature is really rounded experience, worth the visit. And let's not forget the cute donkeys :)

We came from Brazil to visit Slovenia and Croatia and had a lovely time at Monte Formento. Tino (the host and owner) conducted the tasting with us and was super friendly! We went with our toddler and he also had a blast. We recommend it for food lovers and families!
