About this crossing
From the postcard-perfect harbour of Rovinj across the open Adriatic to Venice. Slightly shorter than the Poreč crossing at around four hours, with the same comfortable catamaran setup that makes the journey feel more like a relaxed coastal cruise than a transfer.
Onboard you've got an indoor lounge with panoramic windows, an outdoor deck for fresh sea air, and a small bar serving drinks and snacks. The light changes constantly as you cross, so the deck is the place to be on a clear day.
The route runs seasonally from spring through autumn, typically with a single daily round trip in peak summer. Border checks are minimal both ways and the ride is smooth even when the bora wind kicks up further north along the coast.
Ideal for a day trip with breakfast in Rovinj's old town, a long lunch by the Venetian canals, and dinner back in Istria. The boat docks at Fondamenta Nuove, a short vaporetto hop from St Mark's.
